An interactive map shows how different areas can be affected by predictable natural events that have been identified during risk planning (such as flooding). This can provide the population with information and open communication of risks; planned evacuation measures can also be mapped for disaster situations. Those at risk can use this information to prepare specifically for the measures to be taken in the event of a disaster.
Previous experience of disasters shows that an informed population reacts much faster and better to orders and protective measures issued by the authorities.
